Ford has just announced no less than four recalls in the United States, affecting tens of thousands of vehicles, and all for separate problems. Mustang, F-Super Duty, Explorer, Transit, or Lincoln Aviator owners may soon have to return to the dealership for necessary repairs.

#1: Display problem on Mustangs

The most concerning recall involves 6,212 2024 Ford Mustang models produced between May 10 and August 20, 2024. According to Ford, these vehicles suffer from digital display issues, the screen of which could go completely black due to bass fluctuations voltage in the remote control module. This problem, which has already been the subject of 58 warranty claims, will be corrected by a software update in Ford dealerships. Owners will receive a notice at the end of the month.

#2: Rear camera failure on F Super Duty

The most extensive recall affects nearly 24,950 Ford F-250s, F-350s and F-450s manufactured between October 4, 2022 and March 14, 2024. In this case, the camera mounted on the top of the tailgate may be damaged by water, which may cause the infotainment screen display to fail when the tailgate is lowered. Ford will replace the rear camera, wiring harness and tailgate parking assist sensor module at no cost to owners. Recall notices will be sent starting December 9.

#3: Software problem on Explorer and Aviator

Ford is also recalling 391 2025 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator models produced between May 30 and August 8, 2024, and July 18 to 26, 2024. For these models, the rear camera image may disappear if the vehicle exceeds 10 mph in reverse, because some Accessory Protocol Interface modules were delivered with unfinalized software. Ford is planning an over-the-air software update to correct this issue, and owners will also be able to visit the dealership for the fix.

#4: Risk related to axle bolts on Transits

Finally, the most recent recall concerns 808 2023 and 2024 Ford Transit models, produced between May 10, 2023 and February 10, 2024. On these vehicles, the rear axle bolts may be loose, potentially locking the rear wheels or separate them from the axle, or even cause the vehicle to move if the parking brake is not applied. Owners will be notified of the recall beginning December 9, and the axle bolts will be replaced free of charge.
