The stepfather of the teenager found dead last week in the family home in Alénya (Pyrénées-Orientales) was indicted for murder of a 15-year-old minor and imprisoned Thursday evening. The information was confirmed this Friday, November 1 by the Perpignan public prosecutor's office.
The 42-year-old man was presented to the investigating judge on Thursday afternoon, where he “kept silent (…) during his interrogation“, specified Nicolas Brignol, deputy public prosecutor in Perpignan. His indictment comes four days after that of young Emilio's mother, also charged with murder of a 15-year-old minor and imprisoned on Monday.
The couple was arrested last week in Val-d'Oise, where they fled after the tragedy. According to the prosecution, the father-in-law, “already convicted of violence and drug offenses“, had to be hospitalized after a “drug absorption before the arrival of the investigators“. The mother, with no criminal record, had been placed in police custody in Argenteuil before being brought back to the Pyrénées-Orientales. She worked as a childminder in the neighboring town of Saint-Cyprien.
Conflicts within the family had already attracted the attention of the authorities. The prosecution emphasized that the family was “known for procedures linked to a conflictual separation of the parental couple“.
This tragic affair began with the testimony of a friend of the father-in-law, who went to the Argenteuil police station to report that the man had confided to him “having +smoked+ his stepson“. The results of the autopsy, carried out Monday at the Montpellier University Hospital, reveal that the victim suffered a “multitude of violent blows” all over his body, confirming the extreme violence of the events.
