François-Xavier Bellamy believes that Emmanuel Macron “tells a completely false story” by asserting that “the extreme right can come to power” in the European Parliament
François-Xavier Bellamy, head of the Republican list (LR), judged Wednesday morning on Europe 1 that it is on the side of the “right of government” what will the future of Europe play out over the next five years in the European Parliament, while the European People’s Party, the group in which the eight current LR elected officials sit – not without dissension – is already the leading group in the European Parliament and should consolidate its place in the election.
Asked about the D-Day commemorations, which begin this Wednesday for three days, and about the arrival of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is due to speak to French parliamentarians on Friday at the Assembly, he considered that this was “something surprising, two days before the European election”, while recalling LR’s support for kyiv in its war against Ukraine. “Emmanuel Macron is less supporting Ukraine than using it to try to distort the debate” of this campaign, continued the right-wing MEP.
He also castigated “this television news that the President of the Republic has convened”, Thursday evening on TF1 and France 2, criticizing its holding a few days before the election, even if the main subject must be the commemorations of the Landing.
Then citing the Head of State’s interview yesterday with the online media Le Crayon, and his latest declarations, François-Xavier Bellamy considered that Emmanuel Macron “tells a completely false story to the French.
