During the municipal council meeting in October 2025, Chantal Ramaugémunicipal councilor and president of the Mixed Union of Drinking Water Supply (SMAEP) of Mayet (Sarthe), presented the 2023 annual report on the price and quality of the public service of water potable.
Impeccable quality water
Serving 11 157 habitants spread over eight municipalities, the region covered by the SMAEP represents 443 kilometers of pipes.
In terms of water quality, it is a solid success for the SMAEP with two indicators at perfect score of 100%.
One evaluating compliance with regulatory limits for the quality of water distributed to users concerning physicochemical parameters such as pesticides, nitrates, chromium, bromate and the other evaluating compliance with regulatory limits for the quality of water distributed to the user concerning bacteriological parameters.
A reduction in leakage losses
On the drinking water network side, it has a very good performance of 91.6%, clearly above the national average which is 70%.
Financially, these are 650,000 m3 of water that were billed in 2023. There remain 58,000 m3 of water which has leaked and purged the network, which represents a drop almost 20% compared to the previous year.
€377,338 was also invested in network repair work.
