The long list of homicides is growing. On the night of Thursday October 31 to Friday November 1, a man in his thirties was shot and killed in Villeurbanne (Rhône). Another was seriously injured by a stab in Grenoble (Isère), Le Parisien learned from corroborating sources.
Around 11:15 p.m., this Thursday, the Villeurbanne police station was called by a witness, having heard an explosion, Avenue du 11 Novembre in the Tonkin district, before seeing a group of individuals. According to this witness, one of them was carrying a long weapon.
Tonkin district targeted by shootings in 2023
Arriving on site, the police discovered a man in his thirties on the ground. Seriously injured by a gunshot to the head, the victim succumbed to his injuries. A 12-gauge shell casing was found on the ground, according to our information.
An investigation was opened, entrusted to the local judicial police department of Lyon. The alleged perpetrator of the shooting, who fled, is actively being sought. The Tonkin district experienced a series of shootings linked to drug trafficking almost a year ago.
In Grenoble, firefighters treated a man injured by a stab wound, rue Captain Belmont, according to our information. The man did not have an identity card on him. The victim, who received three stab wounds to the back and ribs, was taken to hospital in serious condition. The alleged perpetrator of the stabbing is on the run, a police source told AFP. The investigations were entrusted to the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS).
A shooting outside a nightclub
During the same night, around 1:40 a.m., the police were called to rue de l'Ange, in Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme), for a man injured by gunfire. The victim, a 19-year-old young man unknown to the judicial services, was taken care of by emergency services. Affected in the liver, his vital prognosis was poor for a while, according to our information.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the tragedy occurred following an altercation between the victim and another man. The latter took out a weapon and fired once, hitting the victim in the stomach, before running away, Le Parisien learned from a police source.
On site, the police found a 9 mm caliber cartridge case on the ground. An investigation was opened for “attempted homicide by firearm”. It was entrusted to the territorial directorate of the judicial police (DTPJ) of Clermont-Ferrand. The alleged perpetrator of the shooting is still being sought.
In Saint-Péray (Ardèche), near Valence, three people were also injured by gunfire last night in front of a nightclub, where a man opened fire. A 22-year-old young man, hit in the head, was transported in absolute emergency to the Valence University Hospital. The person suspected of shooting fled.
