French U20 international Ayyoub Bouaddi has reportedly decided to swap the blue jersey for the red of Morocco.
Having turned pro in the summer of 2023, young midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi is among the most meteoric rises in France. At 17 years old and measuring 86 meters tall, the native of Senlis already has more than 25 matches under his belt, including sixteen in Ligue 1 and around eight in the European Cup (2 in the Champions League).
At the same time, he has progressed at great speed in the youth categories of France, from the U16 at the end of 2022 to the U20 where he has been international three times since last September. On October 11, he participated in the victory in the first leg against the Lionceaux de l'Atlas du Morocco (4-3), the country of his origins. Three days later, he witnessed another success (5-4) for the Bleuets from the bench.
Bouaddi would snub France for Morocco
This double confrontation probably constituted a trigger for the kid. Since, despite the interest of Didier Deschamps, the coach of the France A team, as relayed by the Moroccan press, the kid would have decided to continue his international career with the Chérifiens. The specialized account Zone FRMFwhere the information came from, explains that Bouaddi would have kept the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) informed of his choice. The next step would be the change of sporting nationality.
This should not take place before the next international break. Consequently, barring any surprises, the Northerner should not appear in coach Walid Regragui's list for the last matches of the year against Gabon and Lesotho, in November, for the fifth and sixth days of the qualifiers for the CAN 2025. However, if this is confirmed, the person concerned could be called up next year. To be continued…
