Estrie: two school transport unions locked out

In Estrie, Transdev locked out its school bus drivers on Monday. A scenario that several parents feared, especially after a sequence of 10 days of strike.

Last Friday’s meeting between the two parties did not make it possible to reach an agreement with the La Sapinière and Estrie bus drivers’ unions.

Thus, on Sunday, 63% of La Sapinière bus drivers rejected Transdev’s recent employer offer. As for bus drivers in Estrie, they will vote on Tuesday at the general assembly.

“The latest salary offer is still far from the objectives voted by the members,” declared Darian Ramirez, president of the union, in a press release.

“Considering that our strike ended on Friday and that we are ready to return to work this morning, we have reached out to the employer, asking them to lift their lockout to avoid further inconvenience to parents and children. students, which he refused,” he also said.

Monday morning, several parents in Haut-Francois hoped that the situation would recover as quickly as possible.

This is an organizational headache for parents, but also for school service centers who wish to ensure adequate follow-up with each of the affected students in order to limit the number of absences at the end of the school year. and during the exam period.
