The Edmonton Oilers face the Columbus Blue Jackets in Ohio this evening. While fans surely paid a lot of money for their entry ticket to see superstar McDavid, they only had a few seconds of the show.

Barely 30 seconds had passed on the clock when McDavid found himself in the boards. A painful fall, since he let himself slide for a moment on the ice, his legs in the air. This suggests that a leg or ankle injury is possible. The only information released by the organization so far is that it is a lower body injury.

As hockey insider Elliotte Friedman reports, the Oilers organization has confirmed that McDavid will not return to the game this evening. It’s a big loss for the team, which is currently losing by a score of 4-0 after two periods of play.

The star striker is having a rather quiet start to the season. In 9 games, he only found the back of the net 3 times, but he participated in 7 goals for his team. His personal performance is also reflected on the team record. Edmonton currently ranks 5th in the Pacific Division with 4 wins, tied with the Seattle Kraken.

More details will follow.
