The department was affected by bad weather last weekend, which caused significant damage.

Bad weather caused significant damage in the Var. In the commune of Muy, 650 people found themselves trapped after the single bridge giving access to the residential park collapsed.

“We’re a bit like being on a desert island. We have a 48-hour supply of food,” one of the residents confides to TF1.

More serious: four vulnerable people had to be evacuated by helicopter. Two were transported to a hospital and two others to a nursing home.

The east of the department was not spared either. On the Saint-Tropez side, the situation was just as difficult with cumulative rainfall exceeding 150mm in places.

The municipality of Fréjus had to open a gymnasium to shelter those affected for one night, including all the guests at a wedding.
