Receiver-attacker Maxime Hervoir was delighted with his team’s unbeaten streak at home after Spacer’s success against Plessis-Robinson last night (3-1).
Maxime, the first two sets (25-20 and 25-13) are perhaps your two best since the start of the season. How did you experience what seemed like a demonstration?
Le Plessis was really in trouble and we just had to force them to play without forcing too much on the serve in particular. We had a very good defense block and we had to use it, leave them in trouble, and that’s what we managed to do.
While you seemed to be heading towards easy success, how can you explain this completely failed third set (17-25)?
This has been a recurring problem since the start of preparation: we have difficulty remaining consistent throughout a match. We’re working on it. Where I am proud of us is that we were able to react in the fourth set (25-21). Even if everything was not perfect, as we said, we still came out of this match with confidence.
Duflos-Rossi and Ferral have once again proven that young people can bring something to this team. Is that necessarily reassuring for the future?
It’s a real team victory. I am MVP (12 points) because I was perhaps the most consistent but what we must remember above all is that everyone contributed their share.
You play again on Friday against Saint-Nazaire, not too hard?
We have a recovery protocol and we are going to work on it. We don’t train, we just play but to be honest, we players prefer it (he smiles)!
You are going to receive the French champion coming off the back of a series of eight straight victories at the Palais des Sports: is that necessarily good for confidence?
This is home as they say. And no one takes our house. No one comes home and escapes unscathed (smile). The public has been supporting us like crazy since last season and it’s something that’s very important to us. It is thanks to them that we draw this strength. We enjoy playing at home and that’s why we are so hard to beat here.
