In the spirit of community and legacy to African youth, the African Basketball League joined the work of a dedicated sports infrastructure to celebrate Africa Day and Umuganda Day which is a day dedicated to work community in Rwanda.

In addition to the competition taking place at the BK Arena, the BAL organizes several activities highlighting African leadership. Celebrating Africa Day and Umuganda Day which, every last Saturday of the month, mobilizes Rwandans from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for community development activities. The BAL went to Kimiroko Sports and Community Space to join the activities organized by its partner Imbuto Foundation.

In a partnership between BAL, the Rwandan basketball federation (FERWABA) and the minister of sports, this basketball court was created. Today, the site will experience great expansion with the tennis and mini-football courts on which construction has begun. This Saturday, several young Rwandans took part in the work on site with the Rwandan sports authorities and African basketball personalities present in Kigali such as the president of FIBA.

Taking part in the activities, the president of the BAL was delighted with the maintenance of the infrastructure, thus allowing a large number of young people to flourish on the premises. “It’s a special day. We were here last year during the BAL Season 3 finale. We built this infrastructure that is dedicated to the community. It is an activity that is in line with our reason for being. The BAL is more than a basketball league. The objective is to become a locomotive of economic development. And who says that, must talk about community and social development above all. We are very proud first of all to see that the infrastructure is very well maintained and continues to be used. I heard, because I haven’t come back here since, that hundreds of young people frequent this place. And it’s going to grow, it’s going to become a real community center.” declared Amadou Gallo Fall who offered a set of balloons to the young people at the center.
