The Grand Figeac cultural services, based in Figeac and also operating the Atmosphere cinema in Capdenac, have launched a short film competition for young talents aged 15 to 25. Entitled “Les Astros d’Or”, this film competition invites participants from throughout the community of municipalities to make a film lasting two to five minutes, with fun and inspiring constraints: a chocolate yogurt, a still shot of a landscape, and the word “fantastic” placed in the dialogue or setting. These elements are a nod to the film “The Fantastic Three” by Michaël Dichter, which will be screened at the Astrolabe on Wednesday June 5 at 9 p.m. Budding filmmakers can register individually or in groups, and use any form of production, whether silent films, stopmotion animations or animated shorts, provided they respect the landscape format for optimal broadcasting on a large screen. The competition will close with an awards ceremony, parodying major cinema ceremonies such as the César Awards, the Oscars or the Cannes Film Festival. This festive evening, open to all, will take place in the Charles Boyer cinema at the Astrolabe in Figeac, on Wednesday June 5 at 6 p.m. Ryan Coquillas, intern in the Astrolabe cinema department as part of his Social Careers training at the IUT of Nayrac, explains: “This competition is above all fun, accessible to all, and aims to promote conviviality and exchange around cinematographic creation.”

Registrations are compulsory and free, and are done via the form available on the Astrolabe website, cinema section. The registration deadline is May 25.
