Swave the scriptures

The punishment that gives us peace fell on him.
Isaiah 53:5

Long before the author Florence Hartmann, who became the spokesperson for international justice through her book “Peace and Punishment”, the prophet Isaiah, in a simple sentence, united these two words in the concept of a peace extended to all men, obtained by the punishment of one.

The one on whom the punishment fell is none other than Jesus Christ.

However, in this text, it must be understood that peace is granted to those who deserved condemnation and that the punishment fell on an innocent person. The righteous one took the place of the guilty ones that we are, he was punished in our place so that we could be at peace with God.

Peace, with our own conscience, does not come from the good works we have been able to accomplish. It is granted to us because we realize that an innocent person paid for us. Our sins condemned us, but Christ took the punishment we deserved, taking our place.

When a peace treaty is signed between two nations that have been at war, the bill can be very heavy for the loser.

Likewise, our peace is based on extreme punishment. The price of our peace is very high! Christ lost his life, he was humiliated until he died like a vile criminal.

If we can be at peace with our conscience and with God, it is because Christ paid the price for our peace with his sacrifice.

Elisten to the voice of God

Do you know this peace offered to those who believe that Christ took their place on the cross? Take the time to listen to what God wants to say to you about this.

Praying is simply speaking respectfully to God as with a close friend. You can tell him: “Lord, I cannot live in lasting peace on my own. Today I accept to receive the peace that you bought for me on the cross. I now desire with all my heart to be a peacemaker around me. Amen !”

Louer God

To praise God is to show him our gratitude. Today, you can take a moment to thank the Lord for the great salvation that he acquired for you on the cross, at the cost of intolerable suffering. It’s even more wonderful that you didn’t deserve it. So praise it again and again!

Aact today

Now how can you apply what God has told you? If you feel like your life is a mess, or even a real battlefield at times, then accept with humility today this peace that Christ offers you. He who suffered in your place the punishment you deserved.

Hhonor the Lord

Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

Lord Jesus, I want to spend my whole life praising you ! Yours be the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !”

Here is what he writes about this book: Having entered my eightieth year, it seemed appropriate to take a look in the rearview mirror of my life, to remember the lessons learned. This resulted in a book in which I recall, through 31 thoughts, the real beauties of a season of life, rich in an experience with God, for God and men. You can get the book by clicking on this link.
