If he has become an important player for PSG to the point of obtaining his place at Euro 2024 with the France team, Bradley Barcola has had a difficult first six months in Paris. But despite the criticism, the one Daniel Riolo described as a “little lamb” always believed in his lucky star.

A season of contrasts. Before aiming for the double and a victory in the Coupe de France on Saturday evening against Lyon, Bradley Barcola will inevitably draw a positive result from his first season at PSG. Author of a very convincing second part of the exercise, the former Lyonnais (21 years old, 5 goals, 9 assists) was rewarded with a first call-up with the France team to play in the Euro (June 14 – 14 July). A success which contrasts with his sluggish first months in the Capital. Shy appearances which sparked criticism, particularly after Champions League matches such as against Newcastle at the Parc des Princes (1-1). At the end of November on RMC, Daniel Riolo lost his temper against Bradley Barcola, the “little lamb”. “We are watching a Champions League match, not a Youth League match!”

“Even when they wanted to bury me, I always continued to believe in myself”

Criticisms which, six months later, have made the player mentally tougher: “It can only make him grow,” he reacted Thursday on France 3. “When we come across you like that, it can only push you to give your all, to show that you are not a lamb as I heard (laughs), that you are better than that, that you are a good player, that you know what you do and what you want.” And the Parisian concludes: “I had no doubts in those moments. Even when they wanted to bury me, I always continued to believe in myself.”
