“We carry the voice of teachers and organize with them a white day on Friday May 24 (parents are invited to keep their children at home) and a demonstration will take place at 8:30 a.m. in front of the college,” announces the parents’ association (FCPE) of the André-Maurois college, in Deauville (Calvados).

Teachers and parents oppose the so-called “shock of knowledge” reform. “From the start of the 2024 school year, all mathematics and French lessons will be organized in level groups for all sixth and fifth grade students. This organization must be extended at the start of the 2025 school year to fourth and third grade students,” reminds the teaching team in a letter addressed to parents. They claim “We oppose this sorting of your children.” They fear that with this reform will take shape “a multi-speed college, we reduce social diversity, we nourish an “every man for himself” society. » They continue : “the organization of these groups must be done without the necessary means. »

They are therefore calling for a white day this Friday, May 24. “We invite the parents of our middle school students to keep their middle school child at home and to come, if you can, to demonstrate with us in front of the school. »
