A budget of €9 million for an extension of 2,500 m2: it was time, this Saturday, for the site visit for the financiers of this large-scale operation.
A new era is dawning at the Val Fleuri nursing home in Clairvaux-d’Aveyron, currently the scene of large-scale works aimed at rehabilitation… but also extension, with a new building of 2,500 m2 in approach.
A welcome reinforcement for the historic premises, in this case the former village convent, with an area of 3,500 m2 and dating from the end of the 19th century.
And if the reception capacity of residents will hardly change (84 places after the work compared to 80 currently), it is the living conditions of the former which will be greatly improved.
With rooms now measuring 24 m2, but also a host of new features, as director Didier Carles explains: “There will therefore be more space for residents, a psychomotor room, a treatment room, another for adapted activities… This is a very important project in view of the needs covered by the nursing home in the region”.
This new building will be operational at the end of 2025, the renovation of the old premises will take 18 months.
To finance a project of this scale (nearly €9 million in total), the nursing home was able to count on the Regional Health Agency, the departmental council and the Jean XXIII association to which it belongs.
“Comfort of residents” and “welcome families”
This Saturday, October 19, representatives of financiers and elected officials were present for a very symbolic laying of the first stone, several months after the actual start of the work. The opportunity for Benjamin Arnal, departmental director of the Regional Health Agency, Arnaud Viala, president of the departmental council and MP Stéphane Mazars to learn more about this project to which they greatly contributed.
Led by the architect, they visited the site of the future building, which will include three levels. “We worked on the comfort of residents and the welcome of families, alongside the staff and the Jean XXIII association”detailed the architect. A large terrace will overlook the park once the work is finalized, work carried out with a double constraint: responding both to the demographic challenge of the aging population, but also to the energy challenge by offering much more sober premises than the old ones. equipped with geothermal energy.
For him, the Val Fleuri nursing home is a “living place”, “open to the outside”and which is part of a more global project. The old town hall, after rehabilitation, will be transformed into an independent residence and offer five apartments to seniors while a third accommodation project, still for the benefit of seniors, should come to fruition in the years to come in the immediate vicinity of the ‘Ehpad.
