Stade Rennais keeps up appearances. The Rouge et Noir return from Finistère with the draw point (1-1), after a sluggish match facing Brest residents who were barely more inspired.
After a long observation round of 30 minutes, both teams accelerate. It is the Brestois who come closest to opening the score, with a recovery of Camara who finds Mandanda’s bar just before half-time, and a beautiful combination which ends with a crushed shot, once again from Camara.
In the second half, Stade Brestois converted a penalty, following a questionable handball from Azor Matusiwa. Del Castillo converts with force by hitting the underside of the crossbar. Without much reaction, the Rennes produced little play. We will have to wait for the entry of three offensive players, Jota, Gronbaek and Gomez to see Julien Stéphan’s men move forward a little. On an action coming from the right, Jota manages to equalize by scoring an original goal… with his crotch. It’s his first goal in Rouge et Noir.
The Rennais remain twelfth before the other matches of this 8th day of Ligue 1.
