Four weeks of break for Formula 1 and the season is back in full swing in Austin, Texas. This American meeting marks the start of an intense Triple-Header, and just to get into the rhythm we will not be entitled to one, but two races this weekend since this meeting is in Sprint format for the fourth time this season.
Integrated into the Formula 1 calendar in 2012, the COTA for “Circuit of The Americas” is a very varied and complex track. Once past the first turn at the end of an endless climb from the starting line, the first sector offers a spectacular series of high and medium speed turns. Two lines follow, with violent braking at the end of each, conducive to overtaking attempts. The last sector is very winding, and each excess of enthusiasm is punished by a dramatic off-track in terms of the time.
The king of Austin is called Sir Lewis Hamilton with five successes gleaned in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017. The Briton will certainly be keen to enrich this list thanks to a Mercedes in clear recovery of form. It will be harder for Max Verstappen, who has won the last three editions, unless Red Bull manages to chase away the wolf who has settled comfortably in the passenger compartment of his RB20.
