Biathlon: the great return of Quentin Fillon-Maillet
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Quentin Fillon-Maillet so strong. The most alarmists will say that, since his historic 2021/2022 season, he has no longer shown himself in this magnificent light as he did this Saturday afternoon during the sprint of the French biathlon championships in Arçon (Doubs). The truth is that Grandvallier, for two years, had only very rarely displayed his class.
On more than alternating current in recent seasons, Quentin Fillon-Maillet therefore wanted to make a reset this summer. “I tried to compile all the errors made so as not to reproduce them”he admitted to Nordic Magazine after his national sprint title won during the Doubien sprint.
This race, therefore, was largely dominated by the Franc-Comtois. By signing a 9/10 on shooting, with an error on prone and, above all, quick and efficient standing again, Quentin Fillon-Maillet undoubtedly validated quite a few points worked with Jean-Pierre Amat throughout the preparation. For the physical part, it was also shown in its best light by largely dominating the competition.
In the end? A success obtained with more than 30 seconds of margin on Eric Perrot et Fabien Claude. “I gave everything, but I felt that I was in the red today, especially at the end of the race where Quentin [Fillon-Maillet] flew away! He was much stronger than me.”regretted Peiserot.
“It’s positive, I’m happy”
“This victory represents preparation well donerejoiced QFM before getting on the podium to collect his gold medal. I’m where I wanted to be in terms of sensations. There was a bit of questioning about where I was because we’ve done a lot of preparation up until now, and especially these last three weeks at altitude. We had high training loads and I wanted to see how my body evolved with the constraints of the altitude. It’s positive, I’m happy. »
So far delighted by his preparation, Quentin Fillon-Maillet is, it seems, in the process of hanging up the wagons of the world’s best level. In any case, this is what he believes in: “I am satisfied because I am returning to standards which are goodhe explains. We have a group that was really dynamic with the two young Oscars [Lombardot] et Eric [Perrot] who push us to be better even after 10 years of the World Cup. We are making good progress collectively and personally! »
Et to hope that the entire France group will produce “beautiful things” throughout the winter on the planetary circuit. “We arrive in the second year with Jean-Pierre [Amat] and Simon [Fourcade] as coaches. It’s this season that we really put things in place and build something solid”he specifies.
