Two residents of Loiret are mobilizing to help those affected by the fires in Portugal

As in 2017, Portugal was hit by violent fires in September. Like seven years ago, two Fleurys residents are mobilizing to raise funds.

A month ago, Portugal was once again plagued by violent and multiple fires.

Mainly located in the region of Aveiro and Viseu, in the north of the country. The tragedy left five dead and devastated 100,000 hectares of vegetation. Fleuryss Micael Simoes, of Portuguese origin, was shocked. He wants to help the victims. “I have friends there who saw flames in their windows. The sky over Porto was all yellow because of the smoke.”

“I’m going to call some companies.”

A generosity which he had already shown in 2017, during again devastating fires. With his friend Alban Filipe-Pereira, he set up the Portugal Em Lutto association and raised a little more than 10,000 euros. “We were able to buy two destroyed houses and donated the land to the village mayor.”

This time again, the young entrepreneur will call on his network: “I will call companies to ask them to make donations.” Individuals can also donate online.

Enough to supplement the 5,500 euros already raised by Alexandre Pereira, a 20-year-old student from Orléans, who mobilized the community that follows him on TikTok.
