Death of Lina: in Sermoise-sur-Loire, where the body of the young girl was found, “everyone is traumatized”

“It started last night with rumors, phone calls” says the mayor of Sermoise-sur-Loire, Manuel de Jesus. The small town of 1,600 inhabitants finds itself, despite itself, in the spotlight after the macabre discovery of Lina’s bodyfifteen years old, immersed in a stream in a wooded area. “It’s a shock when it leaves Strasbourg to go to Barcelona and it arrives in Sermoise-sur-Loire with 1,600 inhabitants. It’s lunar!” continues the mayor who says he is moved and thinks of the family “who will be able to mourn.”

Many mysteries to unravel

However, many questions remain unanswered. Investigators are certain that it is Lina’s body thanks to genetic analyzes carried out urgently by the Criminal Research Institute of the National Gendarmerie (IRCGN). But what are the circumstances surrounding his death? No response for the moment, especially since the main suspect, Samuel Gonin, was found hanged at his home in Besançon last July, leaving a letter without confession.

“People are very shocked”

Since the discovery, the inhabitants of Sermoise-sur-Loire have seen the ballet of investigators, gendarmes and firefighters: “People are very shocked. They don’t dare call, but they come to the town hall, they come to find out, they see. There are movements. Everyone is very traumatized”confides the mayor. “Today, we are going to let the gendarmes work since they are now on site with special units, firefighters, firefighters.”

A little traveled road

The road near which the teenager’s body was found is not very busy: “It’s just for the residents. It’s a road that doesn’t have much use, but it goes through a lot of woods,” explains the mayor who is wondering: “Why there? Because I suppose that here, just as we take this road, there is the highway exit and this person who got out was looking for a place. And then passing on this deserted road, the day, night, I don’t know, he left the body there, at the source of the Peuilly stream”, explains the mayor. The Strasbourg public prosecutor’s office indicated that it was awaiting the results of the forensic expertise.
