Davante Adams makes shock appearance alongside Aaron Rodgers hours after trade with Jets

Shortly after the New York Jets lost to Buffalo Payments on Monday night, team officials pulled off a blockbuster trade.

Multiple reports surfaced Tuesday morning indicating that the Raiders and Las Vegas Jets had agreed to a deal that would send star wide receiver Davante Adams.

The Jets later confirmed the trade which sent a conditional 2025 draft pick to New York in exchange for Adams. Just hours after news of the trade began circulating, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers publicly addressed the deal during his routine appearance on “The Pat McAfee Present.”

But Rodgers’ guest spot on the ESPN program proved far from routine when Adams suddenly appeared on screen behind the quarterback.

Adams and Rodgers began their respective NFL careers as members of the Inexperienced Bay Packers. Adams left Inexperienced Bay following the 2021 season, while the 2022 campaign marked Rodgers’ final season with the Packers.

Adams was sidelined for the Raiders’ last three games while recovering from a hamstring injury. But when Adams was asked about his injury Tuesday, he said he “felt good.”

“I feel good, man,” Adams told McAfee. “I feel good. I was working with the workers in Vegas all the time and they had me back well, so luckily I’ll be able to ride. »

Meanwhile, Rodgers said he was “really excited” about having another opportunity to throw passes to his longtime friend.

“He’s a phenomenal player and a dear friend,” Rodgers said Tuesday. “It was obviously a bad day yesterday. We had a very good chance of getting to 3-3 and winning a home game. We kind of lost that one.

Adams and Rodgers built chemistry during their time playing together. The receiver expressed confidence when talking about his new challenge of learning the subtle differences of the Jets’ offense in a relatively short period of time.

“I’m sure there are some new little nuances, but for the most part it’s the same verbiage,” he said. “Still the same OG here, so we should be able to pick up where we left off. That’s the idea. »

Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, described Adams as someone who is “at the top of the list of guys (in the league) that I really care about and are family to me.”

“He made me look good a few times,” Rodgers said. “So, I’m really excited. I think it’s exciting for our team. We definitely improved today. »

Rodgers added that Adams can essentially pick up certain things through “osmosis” and praised the three-time All-Professional for his management abilities.

“He’s a proven star player. It’s an asset. He has an incredible presence in the locker room,” Rodgers said. “I think it’s really going to help Garrett (Wilson). I think when you can be around a guy who’s been doing it at a high level for a long time, just seeing how he takes his process through osmosis, there’s going to be a lot of things he can pick up.

The Jets will look to get back to winning ways later this week when they travel to Pittsburgh for a game against the Steelers.
