Apple lowers the price of the iPad 10 a little: no successor in sight?

Concomitantly with the launch of the iPad mini 7, Apple lowered the price of the iPad 10 a little. All configurations saw their price reduced by €30, which starts the entry-level iPad at €409. € with 64 GB of storage. Knowing that resellers are already used to marketing this model at €399, we can expect a new lower price from them. The decline concerns Europe, but not the United States.

While there were doubts about a renewal of the entry-level iPad this fall, the individual launch of the iPad mini 7 and the price reduction of the iPad 10 seem to close the door to an upcoming update . Especially since Apple has even revised the packaging of the iPad 10 by removing the charger.

If the €30 reduction is a good idea, it struggles to hide the delay that this iPad is taking. While the iPad mini now benefits from an A17 Pro system-on-chip (and probably 8 GB of RAM) and the iPad Air is smart with its M2, the cheapest tablet only has a A14 from 2020 and 4 GB of RAM.

For iPad 10 customers, this technical sheet is still largely satisfactory for current tasks, but it is insufficient for the first Apple Intelligence functions which are about to be released (except in Europe…).

While it clearly presented the iPad mini 7 as an update designed for Apple Intelligence, Apple does not seem determined to raise the level of its entry-level tablet with this in mind for the moment. However, an 11th generation iPad equipped with an A17 Pro and 8 GB of RAM would not necessarily overshadow the iPad Air M2 too much.
