A terrible accident occurred in the Lot. Saturday noon, an all-terrain firefighter vehicle knocked down a 90-year-old lady on a slight slope in Saint-Perdoux, reports La Dépêche du Midi. The nonagenarian did not survive her injuries.
Nine firefighters were responding to an agricultural machinery fire and their group leader got lost trying to join them. He parked his vehicle on a slight slope and asked a local resident for directions.
Open investigation and negative screenings
When they noticed that the vehicle was moving, the firefighter pushed the old lady aside before getting back on board his vehicle to try to stop it. Unfortunately, in circumstances that remain to be clarified, the nonagenarian was knocked down and found herself under the firefighter’s car.
Despite rapid emergency assistance and transport by helicopter to Clermont-Ferrand, she died from her injuries.
An investigation was opened by the gendarmes and another, internally, by the firefighters. According to information from The Dispatchit seems that the alcohol and drug tests carried out on the firefighter were negative.
