November 17, 1990 was an ordinary day for Carole Soltysiak. As usual, the teenager had spent the afternoon with her friends. At the end of the day, she leaves the group to return home, accompanied by her boyfriend, recalls The Parisian. Arriving a few hundred meters from her home, the two teenagers had separated. This is the last time Carole, 13, was seen alive.

The next day, more than 15 km away, in a wood near Montceau-les-Mines, a hunter made a horrible discovery: Carole’s body, stripped and marked with four stab wounds to the chest. Ten years later, in 2000, two men, Alain and François, known to frequent the woods where Carole’s body was found, were indicted. Qualified as “simple-minded“, the duo had partially confessed to their involvement in the affair before the investigating judge. Confessions which unfortunately did not make it possible to clearly establish their responsibility or to determine a precise motive for this crime. Released under judicial supervision in 2001, they were never tried.

Over the years, investigations continued. The DNA found on Carole’s body is even compared to that of famous serial killers like Francis Heaulme or Michel Fourniret, without result. It is only in 2022, i.e. 32 years after the events, that the case is relaunched by the “cold

2023, a new suspect identified

In March 2023, new investigative elements lead to
the indictment of a third managed 62 and originally from Montceau-les-Mines. Although his DNA does not match that found at the crime scene, investigators suspect him of having been present at the time of the incident. The indictment of this third individual did not fail to provoke a reaction from Carole’s family, and more particularly her mother, Betty Soltysiak, who finally hopes to have answers to her questions.

At the microphone of Bluethe teenager’s mother recalled testimonies evoking
the presence of three people in the car that transported Carole before she was killed. She also said that, on the day of Carole’s disappearance, other young girls were victims of similar attempted attacks.
