Yesterday the Tour of Lombardy took place. At the end of an intense race, Remco Evenepoel came second, behind Tadej Pogačar. After getting on the podium, the Belgian did not fail to send a thought to his sports director.
Insolent with ease, Tadej Pogačar won his fourth consecutive Tour of Lombardy on Saturday in Como, equaling Fausto Coppi’s record, after a new solo rider who concludes a monumental season.
The Slovenian attacked 48.5 km from the finish to win his 25th victory alone in 2024, his second in a Monument this year after Liège-Bastogne-Liège, with more than three minutes ahead of the Belgian Remco Evenepoel .
Visibly happy with this second place, the Belgian wanted to send a word to his sports director after the race in a video published by the Soudal Quick-Step team: “The one (the podium, Editor’s note) is for you. You saved my life four years ago“, Remco referring to his terrible fall in 2020 on this same Tour.
Touched by these words, Davide Bramati answered him soberly: “Congratulations, mate, hats off“.
