The main broadcaster of Ligue 1 currently has 500,000 subscribers. To achieve its objectives, DAZN will allow you to share your subscription at €29.99/month on two screens at no additional cost, and therefore divide its price by two.
DAZN is struggling to achieve the objectives set at its launch. After a difficult start, the streaming platform is counting on flagship events such as the highly anticipated OM-PSG match and new promotions to expand its subscriber base. Currently, the main broadcaster of Ligue 1 with 8 out of 9 matches, has around 500,000 subscribers according to L’Equipe, a figure still well below its expectations.
In an attempt to boost its offering and attract a greater number of football fans, DAZN is preparing to boost its subscription formula to 29.99 euros per month. This offer will allow you to connect two devices simultaneously with the possibility of sharing the subscription. Indeed, with this option, subscribers will be able to divide the costs, reducing the monthly cost to 15 euros per user. This price thus crosses a psychological threshold long mentioned by supporters, who saw in this reduction a key condition for subscribing in the long term. Until now, to enjoy DAZN content and broadcasts on a second screen, an expensive “Unlimited Plus” option is priced at €20/month, which brings the subscription to €49.99/month.
It now remains to be seen whether these adjustments will be sufficient to achieve DAZN’s initial ambitions, such as one million subscribers by the end of the year in a context where the Ligue 1 product itself appears less attractive.
