Subject to numerous doubts, like the entire organization of the 2024 Olympic Games, the Olympic village has not escaped some controversies. Gabby Thomas, American star who won three gold medals during the fortnight, also looked back on both what she liked and what she didn’t like. Remarks to take into account in view of Los Angeles 2028!
For many years, the Paris 2024 organization had only one obsession with the Olympic village: to put the athletes in the best conditions, to allow them to both perform at their best, and to relax when needed. And if everything was not perfect, almost all the details seem to have been thought out – proof with the words of Gabby Thomas.

Spearhead of women’s sprinting in the United States, the Harvard graduate was, like many of her counterparts, very active on social networks during the competition. It was also during one of her videos that she revealed her experience at the Olympic village hair salon. Initially fearing the worst, the American came out stunned:
I have just come out of the village hair salon. I wanted to try it out, because a few girls said they liked it. I was nervous, because I know a lot of people don’t know how to style hair with an afro texture. I was expecting to walk out crying, but… the hairdresser did a really good job, she did everything well, and I feel cute!

Yes: right down to the hair salon, the organization has tried to meet the needs of as many athletes as possible. It was therefore with a smile on her face that Gabby Thomas returned to her room, as evidenced by the image below:
Another positive point of the village in the eyes of the Atlanta native? Chocolate muffins. In an interview given to “Vogue” recently, she even said that the famous pastry was the one she missed the most:
Something I miss about the Olympic Village? Chocolate muffins. I give them 9.9/10, and the only reason it’s not higher is because they were hard to find.
On the other hand, the famous cardboard beds, unsurprisingly, did not find favor in the eyes of the star:
One thing I won’t miss are those cardboard beds. My back really hurt.
Overall very well received by all the athletes present, like Gabby Thomas who was able to see that the attention to detail had gone all the way to the hair salon, the Olympic village however suffered from a big black spot : cardboard beds. A lesson that the organizers of Los Angeles 2028 should obviously not fail to take into account.
