New evidence was recently submitted to prosecutors and an arrest warrant was granted for a man the police had in their sights shortly after the incident.

The suspect, then aged 26, was in fact arrested and questioned a few days after the murder of Jenique Dalcourt. It was he who called 911, claiming to have come across the victim by chance. But he was later released due to lack of evidence.

Now arrested, he will be subject to further questioning and will face murder charges in the coming hours. The Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service (SPAL) is scheduled to hold a press conference Wednesday morning to provide more details.
