Since 2 p.m. this Tuesday, in Nancy, a gas leak has occurred at the intersection of rue des Dominicains, rue du Pont-Mouja and rue Saint-Georges. The sector, where the construction of the future trolley is taking place, is evacuated.

The town hall of Nancy, Place Stanislas, was also there, as well as all the nearby shops and accommodation.

The gas leak could be heard throughout the neighborhood in this part of downtown Nancy.

According to a Colas employee, the punctured pipe is under pressure of 6 to 8 bars, which explains the reason for the blast heard until around 3:20 p.m. It would appear that the power supply may have been cut off.

To avoid any risk of explosion, firefighters hosed down the leak site. The gas is cut off but the security perimeter remains active, especially since the gas remains in the sewers.

According to an elected official from Nancy, the repair will last several hours. It is possible that businesses in the cordoned off area will not reopen this Tuesday.

Shortly before 4 p.m., firefighters began to escort residents home to check that there were no pockets of gas remaining.
