The film festival Hello , this is Taiwan returns for its 3rd edition, from November 15 to 17, 2024, in the emblematic rooms of the mk2 Bibliothèque, in the heart of . Organized by mk2 in collaboration with TAICCA (Taiwan Creative Content Agency)this unique festival invites the public to immerse themselves in the creative world of contemporary Taiwanese cinema through a selection of new films:

  • 10 screenings of exclusive worksa majority of which has never yet been broadcast in France, including Locust by KEFFpresented to last Film Festival during the Critics’ Weeket Old Fox de Hsiao Ya-Chuanselected to represent Taiwan at the 2025 Oscars

An essential festival to immerse yourself in the 7th Taiwanese art

For two years now, this festival has become an unmissable event for fans of Asian cinema. Through a series of carefully selected screenings, Hello France, this is Taiwan invites the general public to discover the diversity of Taiwanese productions. Unpublished films, often difficult to find in France, will be screened in optimal conditions at the mk2 Bibliothèque, an essential place for cinema lovers in Paris.

TAICCA, a key partner of this event, continues its mission to promote Taiwan’s rich cultural heritage, by highlighting the excellence of the actors who make Taiwanese cinema. This festival is the ideal opportunity for Parisians to immerse themselves in a little-known but vibrant cinematic culture. Thanks to original stories and innovative visual approaches, these films are attracting growing interest on the international scene, as illustrated by the selection at the last Cannes Film Festival.

An exceptional program

The 2024 edition promises a bold selection of films that reflects the diversity of themes and genres explored by Taiwanese directors. Among the expected films, Locust of KEFFpresented in Cannes during Critics’ Week, promises to be one of the highlights. This fascinating neo-noir film, which combines thriller and drama, plunges us into the underbelly of Taipei while addressing the political tensions of the Hong Kong protests in 2019. Hailed for its careful aesthetic and its hard-hitting socio-political critique, Locust paints a striking portrait of a rapidly changing Taiwan.

Another highlight of the programming: Old Fox of Hsiao Ya-Chuannotably selected to represent Taiwan at the Oscars 2025 in the category of best international film. The public will also be able to discover other remarkable works such as Abiding Nowhere of Tsai Ming-Liang, Trouble Girl of Chin Chia-Huaet Love is a Gun of Lee Hong-Chi.
