As part of Fire Prevention Week (October 6 to 12, 2024), the City of Edmundston Fire Safety Department reminds you that fires can spread in a few seconds and have devastating effects, including injuries. , destruction of property and loss of life.
This week aims to raise awareness of the dangers posed by fire and to inform citizens about the protective measures they can take for themselves and their loved ones.
The theme for this year is: “Smoke Alarms: Let Them Work for You!” » Take a few seconds to test your smoke alarms once a month by pressing the test button, and replace them if they are not working or if they are more than 10 years old. This tiny gesture can save lives.
In order to reinforce the message related to the dangers of residential fire, the Fire Safety Service is launching a series of 4 30-second video clips, demonstrating good practices to follow at home, in order to reduce the risks.
Four municipal issues were targeted by the members of the service, namely:
– Avoid cooking fires on the stove
– Avoid cooking fires in the oven
– The importance of smoke alarms et
– The stages of an evacuation
These capsules will be available at all times on the municipality’s website, in the Fire Safety-Prevention section.
