A 14-year-old teenager saved his family and neighbors from a fire which broke out at his home, in Limeil-Brévannes (Val-de-Marne) on Friday May 10, 2024, reports The Parisian . The new electric cooking plates in the kitchen caught fire around 10:30 p.m. At that time, he was alone with four children, including his little brother and sister, in the home. Her aunt had only left for a few minutes to go to the pharmacy.

He opens the window and closes the door

The fire started quickly but the teenager immediately grabbed towels so his siblings could cover their noses and get out of the apartment. He thought about opening the kitchen window and then closing the door to prevent the flames from spreading.

After leaving the building with the four children, the teenager called for help. “He explained to me that he knocked on all the doors to warn the [voisins] and they evacuate”tells his mother to the Ile-de-France daily. “We came close to the worst”, she adds. Thanks to the reflexes of the teenager, who was congratulated by the firefighters, no injuries were reported. Only the family’s home was affected by the fire.
