The Argentine hooker had several offers, which is not surprising given his international experience – 98 caps – and his multiple qualities – his 26 tries in 59 matches with Leicester are proof among others.
This week marked a major turning point in the Montoya case: according to our information and barring a change of heart, the Argentinian will carry the colors of the Pau Section next season. The current Tigers player would have given its agreement to the club managed by Sébastien Piqueronies in recent days. This would be a top-notch recruit for the Section, which sends a strong message to the market. The former Jaguar, recognized as a world reference, has all the makings of a potential starter even if Lucas Rey is currently the captain on site.
UBB will have to find another plan
If the expected arrival of Montoya at the Hameau is enough to delight the Béarnais leaders, his choice is a disappointment for their Bordeaux counterparts. The UBB had in fact made the Pumas captain a priority in the hooker position.
