Anderlecht leads at half-time against Genk, a great operation if it is confirmed before hosting Club Bruges. But we will have to do without Delaney against the Blauw & Zwart.

At the time of writing these lines, Sporting Anderlecht leads against Racing Genk (1-0) on a superb goal from Yari Verschaeren. If this victory is confirmed, Anderlecht will put pressure on Club Brugge, while the Gazelles will have to travel to Lotto Park in a week.

In short, a very good evening for Mauve & Blanc so far. But Brian Riemer will have frowned when Mr Visser showed Thomas Delaney a yellow card. The Dane has indeed taken the rusk too many.

No Delaney against Bruges

Delaney will be suspended for the next championship game. This means that Riemer will have to – again – shake up his midfield for the potentially crucial match against FC Bruges. This Saturday, the Delaney-Rits-Verschaeren trio is rather convincing.

Remember that Majeed Ashimeru, who started last week at Union Saint-Gilloise, is injured and may not play again for the season. Riemer also seems keen to put Stroeykens on the wing rather than Francis Amuzu, who he prefers to keep as a joker.

We must now hope for RSC Anderlecht that no further twists of fate occur in the second half.
