Welcome » Policy » Supposed death of Paul Biya: “news stripped of all foundation”, reacts Jacques Fame Ndongo
Minister Jacques Fame Ndongo railed against the false news of the death of President Paul Biya, relayed this Tuesday by a foreign media. In an update on Facebook, the government member and communications secretary of the CPDM formally denied this false announcement.
Like wildfire, the false news spread across the networks. Much commented on within Cameroonian public opinion, this false information on the supposed death of Cameroonian Head of State Paul Biya caused a reaction within the government. On his Facebook page, Minister Jacques Fame Ndongo, member of the CPDM Central Committee and communications secretary of the party, provided a formal denial.
For the minister, it is a “ news devoid of any basis“. To this end, the head of Higher Education in Cameroon specified that this “ phantasmagoric ploy must not shake the political maturity, lucidity and patriotism of Cameroonians and friends of our dear and beautiful country“. An outing which complements that made a little earlier by the Minister of Labor, Grégoire Owona.
A much-discussed prolonged absence
Absent at the 79th United Nations General Assembly in the United States, Paul Biya was represented at the 19th Francophonie Summit in France even though his presence was confirmed. Repeated absences which raise questions within public opinion. According to our information, the tenant of the Palais d’Etoudi is resting in Geneva under the prescription of his medical staff. His son Franck Biya, the First Lady Chantal Biya and the Minister Director of the Civil Cabinet Samuel Ayolo Mvondo would be at his bedside in Switzerland.
