The Ottawa Police Service’s Homicide Unit has charged a 20-year-old man with second-degree murder during a poker game.

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) made the announcement in a press release on Friday. Tristan Ethier, originally from Ottawa, is charged in connection with the murder of Kevin Willington, a 53-year-old man who died on April 19 on Birch Avenue in Manor Park.

Tristan Ethier was due to appear in court on Friday.

“Investigators believe that the murder occurred following a struggle during the robbery of a weekly poker game in a basement,” said the SPO.

Investigators are still trying to identify a second suspect who may be involved in this case. The man accompanied Thomas Ethier. The individual in question was described as a white male, 1.85 to 1.88 m (6 ft 2 in) tall and weighing approximately 86 kg (190 lb); he wore dark clothes and had a mask on his face.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5493.
