Barron, 18, who will graduate from high school next week, was chosen Wednesday by the Florida Republican Party as one of the electors who will vote for the presidential candidate in July. This is what emerges from the list of electors published for the first time by NBC News.

Donald Trump’s youngest son, the only child from his marriage to Melania, has so far been largely absent from Mr Trump’s political activities. However, he made headlines at the start of Mr. Trump’s money laundering trial, with the ex-president’s lawyer announcing that his client would not be able to attend court on May 17 due to Barron’s graduation ceremony.

It is not yet known whether Barron will also speak at the Convention, which takes place July 15-18 in Milwaukee. His half-siblings did so in 2016.

Electors or delegates represent the state’s voters and elect the candidate at the convention. Anyone with a connection to the party can be designated as a voter, but in Florida, it is notable that the Trump family is very well represented. Donald Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric, as well as his youngest daughter Tiffany, are also on the list of electors, as are the fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., husband of Tiffany and several loyal Trump supporters.

The issue in the March 19 primary in Florida was 125 electoral votes, all of which Trump obtained. To win the Republican nomination, a candidate must obtain at least 1,215 electoral votes, which was not a difficult task for Trump. Today, with nine primaries to go, he already has 2,016.

Trump won Florida in 2016 and 2020.
