the essential
The mayor of Aston, Alain Pujol, deplores the status quo after a year of uncertainty.

“For the moment, there has been no change. The company is still paying its rent and we have not received a letter or email to say that the activity is ceasing: we are in a situation impasse”, summarizes Alain Pujol, mayor of Aston.

A year after the closure of the site, the first councilor and his municipal council can only regret this dragging situation. “For the moment, we have not thought about breaking the lease,” explains the councilor. “There are still the machines inside, the company has to get rid of them but in the meantime, we are stuck. And It’s even more annoying for the employees obviously.” The mayor indicates that he has sent several emails and letters to Minco, without response so far.

Investments for little results

In the meantime, this situation leaves Alain Pujol disappointed. “What are we going to do with the building? We are far from all the infrastructure that businesses need.” The mayor recalls with bitterness the departure to Verniolle of Aria Electronique, a company manufacturing electronic cards and wired cabling previously based in Aston, but confesses to having no illusions about the sustainability of the companies in his village.

It cost us a lot, we redid the roof, the road, the electricity… We can only be unhappy when we see everything we have done for Minco, laments Alain Pujol But as long as the lease is not terminated, there is nothing we can do. , we are between a rock and a hard place.”
