Neighborhood relations can sometimes be very tense in a small residential area. But not necessarily to the point of threatening a neighbor with a weapon. However, this is what happened Monday evening, in Mantes-la-Ville (Yvelines), in a district in the south of the city bordering a small wood.

The police intervened there around 7 p.m. after a resident explained that a neighbor showed up at his house with a pistol and a full magazine. The individual allegedly threatened him because he found the music was too loud. Threats after which he simply returned home.

The man in question, a 76-year-old resident who was intoxicated, was arrested without incident and placed in police custody. His weapon was seized, it was a pellet gun.

Neighborhood conflicts with sometimes dramatic outcomes

In recent months, certain neighborhood conflicts have turned into aggression or confrontation in Île-de-France. At the end of April, a 24-year-old woman was stabbed for this reason, in a small town in Essonne. The previous month, the courts convicted a man who stabbed a neighbor in the face in Brétigny-sur-Orge (Essonne).

The outcome of these conflicts is sometimes irreversible. In 2021, an 85-year-old resident of Noisy-le-Roi was killed by his neighbor who he had asked to make less noise. A tragedy which deeply shocked the residents of the L’Orée residence in Marly.
