Matz Sels saved a point for Nottingham Forest when they visited Chelsea’s “A team”. The goalkeeper had to distinguish himself a few times, especially at the end. Nottingham took the lead after half-time, but Madueke erased the deficit for Chelsea. Nottingham Forest had to finish the match with 10 men after a foolish red card for James Ward-Prowse.

Matz Sels had a relatively quiet time against Chelsea for 40 minutes, where all the star players kicked off again after their rest day against Ghent. They discovered that Nottingham Forest would not let themselves be taken lightly.

Sels saw a few balls go over and wide in the first half, but in minute 40 he had to distinguish himself for the first time with 2 saves. 3 minutes later the goalkeeper was almost beaten. With some luck he got the ball into his hands via the post.

Nottingham Forest showed themselves offensively in the first half, but they did not pose any great danger. Until Chis Wood suddenly gave Nottingham Forest the lead after half-time. After a free kick, Wood was able to deflect the ball past goalkeeper Sanchez. Forest could not enjoy that lead for long. Madueke left Sels without a chance less than 10 minutes later.

Nottingham seemed to be able to hold that tie easily, until the lights went out with James Ward-Prowse. He let the ball slip on the halfway line and saw how Nicolas Jackson could go to Sels’ goal.

But Ward-Prowse wouldn’t let that happen and threw himself at the ball. He grabbed the ball and prevented a dangerous situation. However, he realized quickly enough that it would result in a second yellow card. With 10 men, Nottingham Forest had to hold out for another fifteen minutes.

And Matz Sels more than understood that. With a double save, Sels kept the score on the board and in added time Sels showed his class again twice. His colleague on the other side also made a few excellent saves that kept the score unchanged.

Nottingham Forest thus remains in the safe middle bracket. Chelsea misses the opportunity to connect up front. It is now 4th.
