Météo France predicts heavy rainfall in a few hours. It places the Alpes-Maritimes on orange rain-flood vigilance from this Tuesday midnight and for the day due to a Mediterranean episode which is heading towards the department. Accumulations of around 90 to 100 millimeters of water are expected on the Riviera coast.
The bulk of the episode at the end of the morning
Météo France thus speaks of an episode “rainy-stormy quite large and unusual for the month of October except for the Cévennes regions”. We will have to be vigilant because barely two weeks after the temporary flooding in Cannes, boulevard de la République, when there was “only” 40 millimeters of water expected, the authorities point out that small accumulations can sometimes generate rising water.
The stationary nature of the cloud worries
Forecasters will especially monitor the “stationarity” of the cloud according to a Météo France source at France Bleu Azur. It is depending on this that the situation could deteriorate since the accumulations of rain could be significant in specific places and cause rises in water.
