Jeep slashes price of Grand Cherokee 4xe, which becomes eligible for rebates

Faced with a significant drop in sales of the Jeep brand and more particularly of the Grand Cherokee, Stellantis Canada began offering manufacturer rebates some time ago, including on 2024 models. But above all, the Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid has just suffered a colossal price drop.

In fact, the base MSRP for the 2024 model has increased from $77,185 to $59,995. In addition, the standard equipment has been slightly simplified and the range has also been revised. Instead of separate trims like the Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve, Jeep is now replacing them with big-ticket option packages.

For example, it is possible to add the Altitude group for an extra $15,600 or an Anniversary package for an extra $18,400, as can be seen in the online configurator.

No official announcement has been made yet, although this is big news. In addition to costing much less, the 2024 Grand Cherokee 4xe suddenly becomes eligible for subsidies for plug-in hybrid vehicles, i.e. $2,500 from the federal government and $5,000 from the Quebec government, for a total of $7,000 (taxes included) .

The Car Guide obtained the following statement from Bill Peffer, senior vice president and head of the Jeep brand in North America:

“We know consumers are struggling with inflation and are looking for more affordable avenues to purchase electrified vehicles. Therefore, the Jeep brand in Canada took the opportunity to reduce the starting price of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. The new price of $62,290 (MSRP $59,995 plus additional charges) not only makes our Grand Cherokee the most efficient even more affordable, but it also allows customers to take full advantage of incentives for the purchase of electrified vehicles at the federal and provincial level.

It will be interesting to follow the impact on sales, but one thing is certain: the 2024 Grand Cherokee 4xe is now significantly better positioned in terms of price to compete with its main direct competitor, the Mazda CX-70/CX- 90 with plug-in hybrid engine.
