100% Girondins, Yon Ecenarro, radio consultant, spoke about the end of the season and the two remaining matches to be played. The Girondins de Bordeaux can still reach the top 10.
“If the top 10 is the objective at the end of the season? This is the objective that we must set ourselves, yes. I remain convinced that if we finish well… I hope they say to themselves that we have to finish with three victories. We won against Ajaccio, we must win against Concarneau which has nothing to lose. But if they are in Valenciennes mode, which has nothing to lose, and which has won its last two matches… These teams must also prepare for the end of the season, even for the National. So it’s not necessarily going to be an easy match to play, but Bordeaux must say to themselves ‘We’re trying to get six points out of six in the last two matches’. Knowing that the top 10 is entirely possible given the ranking. We are twelfth, it’s playable. We have to fix that. As they say, ‘For lack of thrushes, we eat blackbirds’ (smile). But I think that it may bode well psychologically, for everyone, for the public, to finish in style against Pau. I think Pau fell out of the race a little bit so that wouldn’t take away their qualification for the play-offs. We have a regional side, we still like the people of Pau (smile).”
He also talked about the next season:
“There is nothing better than continuity. I think a lot of players are ready to go with Albert Riera. But it’s always the same, Albert Riera, to do a season like that again, I’m not sure that they are all ready to start again. On the other hand, with an Albert Riera who can choose his players, make his transfer window and with his ideas from the start that you prepare in preparation… And for once, we will finish mid-May so they will have almost a month and a half of rest to then be able to work well. It’s not the same story. So we especially hope to have reassuring financial news very quickly.”
