During the Chadian presidential elections held on May 5 and 6, 2024, Dr. Succès Masra claimed victory in a video posted on social media. In his speech, he claims to be the “President-elect” and expresses his fears about the integrity of the electoral process. He declares: “What we feared is happening (…) This small group is wrong about the election results (…) We all know that they want to steal the victory from the people. » Behind him, a Chadian flag is visible, although the context of this backdrop is not explained in the video.

The Chadian news site TchadOne had reported earlier that according to the results of the vote, Masra won the presidential election in the first round with 59.28% of the votes. This information is corroborated depending on the site by a “rigorous analysis of thousands of minutes”, and the support of statisticians as well as observers from civil society. Dr Masra was clearly ahead of transitional president Mahamat Deby, who obtained 14.36% of the votes, and former Prime Minister Pahimi Padacké Albert, with 9.74% of the votes.

ChadOne highlights the importance of this election as a historic turning point for Chad, marked by a substantial gap of more than two million votes between Dr Masra and his closest rival. The media calls on Chadian citizens, national institutions and the international community to commit to protecting the integrity of the electoral results. They warn of potential maneuvers by the Constitutional Council which could threaten the stability of the country.
