Two young French people, Léa Deheul living in Orchies, aged 22, and Tristan Descarpentries, living in Marchiennes, aged 23, lost their lives in an accident near Tournai in Belgium

A fatal accident occurred on the night of Wednesday May 8 to Thursday May 9 around 1:15 a.m. in Belgium on the N7, in front of the Zoo Club nightclub, in Barry, near Tournai. According to our colleagues from the Belgian press, a Peugeot car, in which French people were traveling, was preparing to enter the parking lot of the nightclub when it was hit by a thirty-year-old driving in an Audi and residing in the Tournai region. According to the Tournai-Mons King’s Prosecutor, the man was drunk at the time of the incident and was visibly driving at high speed.

There were a total of 7 people on board the 2 vehicles. Emergency services had to carry out an extrication. A 22-year-old Orchesian, Léa Deheul, and a 23-year-old Marchiennois, Tristan Descarpentries, were discovered dead. Tristan is the son of a well-known pigeon fancier in Marchiennes, Mickaël Descarpentries. Another young person would be very seriously injured. The road was closed to traffic until 6 a.m. to allow rescue operations and preliminary investigation. The Douaisis Observer presents its sincere condolences to the families of the two victims.
