Yesterday, the broadcast of a video of the bull run on the first day of the Alès feria caused controversy on social networks.
“ No point in posting a video like that. Our traditions are already in enough danger as it is », writes a man on the Facebook page ofObjective Gard. “ So much the better if they are in danger », Immediately responds a loyal reader. A video published yesterday afternoon on our Facebook page has reignited the debate on our local traditions. We see a young man being hit twice by a bull during the bullfight which took place at the Pont Vieux in Alès. More fear than harm for the young victim (at the time of writing these lines), according to the first elements collected on site. This video, certainly impressive, has the merit of reminding us that the editorial staff ofObjective Gard engages daily, and with neutrality, in the demanding exercise of information. Contrary to what some people suggest in the comments, there is no bias in broadcasting these images. No, we do not want to end local traditions as some fear. And even if we wanted to, would we really have the power to do so? Seriously ? There is no bias when our journalists go to the arenas each year to provide reports on the bullfights in Arles, Alès or Nîmes. What we are also criticized for just as vehemently. As we will not be able to satisfy everyone, we will simply continue what we have been doing for around fifteen years, namely providing information.
