Big day today for the Groupe Sportif de Torcé which organizes the traditional motocross sidecar cross of Torcé-en-Vallée. Christian Letessier, the president with his many volunteers hope to welcome 5,000 people, like last year.

Le Maine Libre: Is everything ready?

Christian Letessier : “It’s indeed the big day that we’ve been preparing for months. The task is heavy to welcome these events, the drivers and the public in the best possible conditions. In recent weeks, there were around fifteen of us in the field every day; the team of volunteers grew as the date approached. We try to prepare as best we can, we have a little experience… Motocross has existed since 1952. For my part, I have been president for 26 years. The biggest unknown, the weather but everything is fine, the sun has returned. There’s no point coming in boots, the ground is dry now. »

Did you take certain precautions?

” Absolutely. The rain made a lot of grass grow, we mowed it four times in a month, that’s a lot of work. The land is still seven hectares. We reviewed our parking plan. The parking lot reserved for motorhomes has been moved. The one we used previously was too wet. No question of taking the risk that some people get bogged down. We adopted a plan B without delay, the first arrived at the start of the week. »

What is the program for this Ascension Thursday?

“The show should live up to the public’s expectations. This year, we are hosting the French elite sidecar cross championship, the Grand Ouest sidecar cross trophy, the veterans motocross league championship and a “National” motocross category competition. Everything is done to ensure that everyone has a good day. We welcome people of all ages and many families. There is also the possibility of eating on site. Training begins at 8 a.m. and events at 10 a.m. »
