Gold and silver in the Best Apprentices of France competition

Charlieu. Lycée Jérémie de la Rue: Gold and silver in the Best Apprentices of France competition. For several years, the public comprehensive high school Jérémie-de-la-Rue has registered students following the Mélec vocational training (Professions in electricity and its connected environments), in the Meilleurs Apprentis de France (MAF) competition.

For this 2023-2024 promotion, four candidates, preselected to compete in the “electrotechnical” discipline, were supported by the Charliendin establishment: Clara Maniora and Ethan Gaillard, students in 1 D Mélec, and Émir Dinger and Maxence Grizard, apprentices in Terminale Mélec.

“Promote our candidates and offer them professional recognition”

Prepared by their teachers Carole Blanchard and Christophe Planet, the four passed the tests on Tuesday April 30, with the challenge of carrying out, during a given time of eight hours, the complete wiring for the opening and closing of a security airlock in a jewelry shop. A complex project which allowed them to concretely test their skills acquired through their training.

At the end of this intense day, a jury*, chaired by Gérard Gouvernayre, Meilleur Ouvrier de France and regional manager of the MAF competitions, was responsible for controlling and evaluating the work carried out by the four candidates. Satisfaction was evident with good results.

With respective scores of 18.4 and 17.5 out of 20, Maxence Grizard and Clara Maniora each won a gold medal in the departmental and regional competitions. With 16.3 and 16.5 respectively, Émir Dinger and Ethan Gaillard received a departmental gold medal and a regional silver medal. Clara Maniora and Maxence Grizard validated their qualifications for the national evaluations which will take place in Lyon on June 6. Their work will be examined again by a jury which will validate or not the title of best apprentice in France at the national level.

“You should know that participation in MAF competitions represents a significant financial cost for the establishment, of the order of several thousand euros for each candidate. Moreover, since 2017, the Jérémie-de-la-Rue high school has been the only one to prepare candidates in electrical engineering in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. But for us, this approach is very important, because it not only allows us to promote our candidates, but also to offer them real professional recognition, which is a real plus in their future job search,” insists teacher Christophe Planet.

For schoolchildren or apprentices

As a reminder, Mélec professional training is accessible to both schoolchildren and apprentices. Taught over three years, it leads to obtaining a professional baccalaureate.

This jury was made up of professionals Julien Chartier, technical manager at LBL Brenta, a company specializing in industrial sawing technologies in Chauffailles, Jean-Michel Moulin, business and project manager at Dalkia Citelum in Cours-La Ville, Judicaël Manceau, manager of Judiservice Electricité, and Cédric Feuillet, deputy director of the Chalmazel station and himself a former high school student, gold medalist at the MAF regional competition in 2018.
