Spirit Airways prepares to resume flights via Cap-Haïtien airport

The airline Spirit Airways has confirmed the resumption of its flights to Haiti from Friday May 10, 2024. For the moment, the company will operate the route between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Cap-Haitien.

On May 8, 2024, in Port-au-Prince, the airline said in a statement: “We are resuming daily service to Cap-Haitien (CAP) from May 10, 2024, after a thorough assessment and discussions with our safety, security and airport partners. » This information was reported by the American daily Miami Herald.

Spirit spokesman Michael Lopardi said service between FLL and Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince remains suspended while the company evaluates its security options.

“We will continue to closely monitor the situation in Haiti and adjust our schedule if necessary,” Spirit said.

It should be remembered that the low-cost company based in Dania Beach suspended its flights to Haiti on March 4, as did American Airlines and JetBlue Airways. These decisions were taken after armed gangs attempted to take over Toussaint Louverture International Airport.
